Artists Without Walls (Israel/Palestina)

“Artists Without Walls" (AWW) is a forum for dialogue between Israelis and Palestinians engaged in all fields of art and culture. It was founded in February 2004 by a small group of Israeli and Palestinian artists who felt somehow alienated by political activism and who sought to use the ‘art vector’ as a means to ‘reach out’ to the other side. The small group quickly grew to include dozens of participants on both sides, coming from all fields of arts, including theater, cinema, video art, performance art, plastic art and architecture. Since its inception, AWW has succeeded to open up Israeli and Palestinian artists to each other at personal level, and beyond that to a better and more ‘human’ understanding of each other’s societies and issues. AWW is not a registered organization. It works more as a network which has been at the origin of joint artistic creations such as films, exhibitions, and workshops.
